Coincidence

I have been searching for coincidences for a while now, but of course right when I stop looking for them I have a great one! I was talking to an old friend, about nothing in particular really, but something that stuck out to me about the talk was the movie Act of Valor. Ya know about the Navy Seals saving the CIA agent and stopping terrorist attacks, the normal stuff hahaha. Then earlier today I was looking through old pictures I took on my phone and one of the pictures was of a poem that was read in the movie. It was originally written by a Native American Chief, but it was written down in a last letter of one of the members of the SEAL team. It goes like this...

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion;respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.
When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
This is probably one of my favorite poems, or movie quotes ever. I love it just because I think it is really how everybody should live their life to better not only themselves but the people around them. This isn't the coolest or best coincidence in the world, but it is a good one because of the life lessons it has brought back to my attention. Thanks for reading this, even though I don't even know if I'm blogging the right way. Hahaha. Have a good day everyone!

  2. I dig the poem for sure. I'm thinking I have to write a death song now. I think we should all write death songs. Perhaps we should suggest this for the final segment of the class, the one focused on afterlife and what not. I want to hear everyone's death song.

    1. That would be a pretty cool assignment for the final leg of class. Writing a death song would be really interesting, and hearing others peoples would be really cool too ^^^ I like that idea!
